This is my new blog which is all about building, maintaining and upgrading boats. The about me page gives a little more information but I have always had a fascination or what my wife would call an obsession with boats. I've built a lot of boats worked on hundreds more and do all my own maintenance. In the days, weeks and months that follow I will bring you projects, ideas and inspiration that you can use on your own boat. I am a full time writer, photographer and boat surveyor and was until recently senior editor at Sail and deputy editor of the now sadly defunct and greatly missed Boatworks magazine.
I look forward to receiving your feedback, comments, ideas and constructive criticisms.

Hi Mark,
I just read about your blog in online Trade Only and was delighted to see what you are doing. We subscribed to BoatWorks (plus other sail mags) and were sorry to see it go. Good Old Boat is the only one that now helps fill that void. As longtime sailors (longer than we care to admit), we recently found a way to incorporate the love for boating into our commercial business.
Our new retail business sells the kind of products we wanted 30 years ago while cruising. Our first one is a shield to go over opening portholes so they can be left open in inclement weather -- keep out the rain AND allow ventilation. If you'd like additional info about PortVisors™ check out our website at www.SeaworthyGoods.com

This is great! I love your ideas and am excited to see a well written and designed blog on this subject. It is sad that Boatworks didn't survive but this is a nice substitute.

Thanks for the link :) quid pro quo.
Casco Bay is one of my favorite cruising areas, too...hehe. Are you up here in snowy New England, too?
