Hi Mark

Good to hear from you again. My boat GG48 should be in the water this winter after lots of years but lots of fun.

I used glass cloth on the decks to give a non slip surface and better protection for the plywood decks.

Given that the port lights in the hull are now gold plated I think I will also go for prisms. I didn't bother with the wooden hatch but have fitted an aluminium hatch instead. The LEDs sound like a really good idea.

Hi Mark,
Good to hear from you. I'm G98! I live near Norwich, UK so I use Iris on The Broads and I've had good fun in her. I use Iris as a motor boat for the first month or so then I will put the stick up in June for 3 or 4 months then get her out of the water in November. I have a Vetus 10hp, which I find very quiet, and very economical. Like you I have just one battery but I'm going to install a second dedicated starter battery. Iris has a cockpit cover and a sprayhood both of which I find very useful. We've spent several nights aboard and I would love to take down to Cornwall on her own keel. Maybe, one day!

Tony

Good to hear from you too and glad that you are enjoying the boat. Of course you could always trail her to Cornwall for a couple of weeks sailing in the summer.
